NAVRATRI 2026 (2–11 October) — Nine Nights, Nine Colours

Navratri — "Nine Nights" — is a nine-day celebration of the divine feminine in her nine forms (Navadurga). Each day is associated with one form of Devi and one sacred colour. Dressing in the right colour each day is an act of devotion — a way of aligning your energy with the Devi's energy for that day.

Day 1 — 2 October (Pratipada) — Yellow

Devi: Shailputri — the daughter of the mountains, pure and unwavering

Colour: Yellow — optimism, new beginnings, the warmth of morning

Look: Yellow outfit with a golden yellow stole. Begin the nine days with brightness and hope.

Day 2 — 3 October (Dwitiya) — Green

Devi: Brahmacharini — the ascetic, the one who walks the path of penance with grace

Colour: Green — growth, fertility, the abundance of the living world

Look: Emerald or leaf green outfit with a green stole. Fresh, natural, earthy.

Day 3 — 4 October (Tritiya) — Grey

Devi: Chandraghanta — the moon-crested warrior, fierce and beautiful

Colour: Grey — the colour of storm clouds, of the power that precedes the lightning

Look: Silver-grey outfit with a grey or silver stole. Sophisticated and powerful.

Day 4 — 5 October (Chaturthi) — Orange

Devi: Kushmanda — the cosmic creator, the one who created the universe with her smile

Colour: Orange — energy, creativity, the fire of the sun

Look: Burnt orange or deep saffron outfit with an orange stole. Radiant and powerful.

Day 5 — 6 October (Panchami) — White

Devi: Skandamata — the mother of Kartikeya, fierce love in maternal form

Colour: White — purity, peace, the stillness of the divine mother

Day 6 — 7 October (Shashthi) — Red

Devi: Katyayani — the warrior goddess, born of the combined power of all the gods

Colour: Red — Shakti, power, the unstoppable energy of the divine feminine

Look: Deep red outfit with a red stole. This is the most powerful Navratri colour day — dress accordingly.

Day 7 — 8 October (Saptami) — Royal Blue

Devi: Kalaratri — the dark goddess, the destroyer of darkness and ignorance

Colour: Royal blue — depth, mystery, the infinite sky

Look: Royal blue or midnight blue outfit with a blue stole. Dramatic and magnetic.

Day 8 — 9 October (Ashtami) — Pink

Devi: Mahagauri — the radiant, the beautiful, the one who shines with inner light

Colour: Pink — love, beauty, the softness of the divine feminine in her most radiant form

Look: Rose pink outfit with a pink stole. Beautiful, warm, luminous. Kanya Puja (worshipping young girls as manifestations of Devi) is performed on Ashtami.

Day 9 — 10 October (Navami) — Purple

Devi: Siddhidatri — the giver of supernatural powers, the goddess of spiritual perfection

Colour: Purple — wisdom, spiritual power, the convergence of all colours

Look: Deep purple or violet outfit with a purple stole. Regal, spiritual, complete.

DUSSEHRA 2026 (2 October) — Red & Saffron

Dussehra falls on the same day as the first day of Navratri this year — 2 October 2026. It is the day Lord Rama defeated Ravana and Goddess Durga defeated Mahishasura.

Dussehra look: Deep red or saffron — the colours of victory, of the warrior, of dharma triumphant. A red or saffron stole over any traditional outfit is the perfect Dussehra statement. Attend Ravan Dahan in the evening. Return victorious.

DIWALI 2026 (17–21 October) — Five Days of Splendour
